About Linkspan

Every year in the Netherlands there are more than 1.5 million ambulance trips. Over 300,000 of these are for planned, non-urgent transport. Planning these trips requires coordination between the requester and a dispatch operator. This takes a lot of time, while dispatch centers are under pressure. Staff is scarce, workload and turnover are high, and many systems are outdated or have limited interoperability.

Linkspan builds an AI agent that independently conducts this intake with the requester and prepares the request. The operator stays in control and gives final approval, but no longer needs to conduct the full conversation. This agent is our starting point. Building on voice, AI and integrations, we continue toward our ambition to make dispatch centers smarter, better connected and future-proof. We take routine work off their hands, enable systems to work better together, and free up scarce capacity for the calls where human judgment is needed most.

Where we stand now

The current team consists of founder Lauren Vierhoven and two part-time developers. Linkspan is being built with support from Achmea Impact Ventures. We are working toward the launch of our first AI agent. We are refining the agent’s flow, building the required integrations, and testing with dispatch operators. Linkspan has a concrete first product, commitment from a client, and traction in the market.

With the launch, Linkspan enters a new phase. The focus shifts from developing and testing to responsibly deploying to production, monitoring, and structured further development. There is no better moment to join as co-founding CTO.

The technical reality

The AI agent becomes part of an operational process within ambulance care.

• Voice, AI, telephony, integrations and human review must connect reliably.
• Safety, privacy, reliability and digital sovereignty carry significant weight.
• Continuity is essential.
• Strict requirements apply to the way data is processed.

Today Linkspan runs on TypeScript and Node.js, with an Express backend, a server-rendered UI and SQLite with Drizzle. We use OpenRouter for LLMs and Twilio for voice and telephony. We manage our server infrastructure ourselves with NixOS, Docker, Dokku and nginx.

The role

You join as CTO and full co-founder alongside Lauren. Lauren focuses on clients, partners and market development. He is strong at connecting parties, building support and translating client feedback into opportunities for Linkspan. You complement this with technical depth, product focus and sharp decision-making.

This is a strategic but explicitly hands-on role. During the first six months you are expected to spend approximately 80% of your time building yourself and 20% on architecture, product decisions and technical direction. Your first assignment is concrete. You prepare the AI agent for production, complete the required integrations, and ensure the product can be reliably monitored, maintained and further developed.

You work closely with the developers and take technical leadership within the team. The current stack is the starting point, not a fixed framework. You have the mandate to revisit fundamental technical decisions when reliability, security, digital sovereignty, scalability or product direction require it.

You will be technically responsible for:

• Architecture and infrastructure
• AI, voice and telephony technology
• Integrations with operational systems
• Security, privacy and digital sovereignty
• Monitoring, maintenance and structural stability
• Setting up the development process
• Technical direction of the team

What we build after launch is deliberately left open. There are many possibilities, and that is precisely why sharp choices matter. Together with Lauren you determine where Linkspan focuses next.

You will co-build:

• The product and technology roadmap
• Setting up testable experiments
• Weighing technical possibilities against customer value and scalability
• Conversations with clients and partners where technical considerations are decisive

What success looks like

After the first six months:

• The AI agent runs reliably in production.
• The system handles the intake for non-urgent ambulance transport autonomously.
• The system functions consistently and in a controllable way.
• The AI agent is connected to the required external systems.
• The AI agent complies with applicable laws and regulations and with client requirements around privacy, security and digital sovereignty.
• Monitoring, maintenance and further development are set up so the product continues to function reliably after the first launch.
• A technically substantiated roadmap exists for the next phase of Linkspan.

How you shape that technically and strategically is up to you and Lauren.

What we’re looking for

• You have previously held technical end-responsibility within an early-stage startup, combining building yourself with architecture, product and prioritization decisions.
• You write production code yourself at senior level.
• You have previously brought an LLM-driven product to production.
• You have experience with technical architecture and complex integrations.
• You can take responsibility for infrastructure and deployment yourself and make deliberate choices about what you manage yourself and what you outsource.
• You know what privacy, security and reliability mean for architecture and execution.
• You can provide technical direction to other developers.
• You can zoom out, set priorities and stop work when it delivers insufficient value.
• You think in hypotheses, experiments and measurable results.
• You can clearly explain technical considerations to clients and non-technical stakeholders.

Experience with health technology, privacy-sensitive infrastructure or another business-critical environment is a plus. You are not just looking for a technical build assignment or a management role. You are looking for co-ownership and want to take responsibility for what Linkspan builds and becomes.
