What is the goal of Stackwise?
Our goal is to reduce money stress and help young people build better financial habits with minimal friction. As a B2B focused on large corporations in the Netherlands, Stackwise does this in three ways. An automated deduction of fixed expenses directly from employee salaries, support for saving money automatically and a flexible payout of remaining income— weekly or bi-weekly instead of monthly.
How did you come up with the idea for Stackwise?
A few years ago, my younger sister was in debt and under serious money stress. She came to me for help, and I built a simple system where we automatically deducted her fixed expenses from her salary. It worked so well that she eventually became debt-free. But the financial stress was so overwhelming, I realized: if she feels this way, many more young people probably do too.
What problem does Stackwise solve?
The numbers are staggering. Over 62% of young people experience money-related stress. Around 26% have serious payment issues, including debt. And when you think about it, that makes sense! The social pressure nowadays from platforms like Klarna, AfterPay, TikTok shops, and YouTube promotions makes overspending easier than ever—often just one swipe away.
Sounds easy. Is there a catch?
As a founder? Definitely! While the solution seems simple —just make sure you spend less than you earn—the backend is complex. It involves regulations, legal hurdles, compliance, and data privacy. But that’s the beauty of what we’re building: a simple user experience backed by smart infrastructure.
What makes Achmea special?
For me, it’s the network and trust. When I call a company and say, “Hi, I’m Erik from Achmea,” doors open. That just wouldn’t happen if I were calling as an independent founder. I’ve already spoken with over 20 major Dutch corporates thanks to their Corporate Relationships Department. That kind of reach is priceless.
